The mission of “The Blue Machine” is to illustrate the story of Coach Alvin Scott’s legacy, at Simeon Vocational High School, presently known as Simeon Career Academy by demonstrating his leadership and dedication to his Scholar Athletes.

Who is Coach Alvin Scott
Coach Scott is the sixth most successful football coach in IHSA history. The eighth coach in IHSA history and the first African American coach to win 200 victories. He’s the only coach to have coached a game that went into three over-times and has the state record for five over-times. He compiled a record of 262-130 in 33 seasons at Simeon (1972-2004) and is the only coach in Public League history to lead his team to the city championship in 1983, 1986, 2000 and 2003. He appeared as the Public league runner up to the city championship in 1979, 1982, 1984 and 2005. Coach Al Scott took his team to the IHSA Class 5A Quarter Finals in 1979 and 1990 and was the Prep Bowl runner-up in 1983, 1986, 2000 and 2003. In March of 2001, he was inducted into the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Coach Scott was one of the many pioneers that brought respectability to the Chicago Public League Football Conference.
